Beauty is a word that some of us may  have struggled with…

Including myself.

During childhood, I have been a bad person… I would push people down by lowering other’s self-esteem with words that are not very nice, s they feel nad about themseves and I can be the only one who feels beautiful.

Did it work?

Yes, for a while… Until they realized they can be mad at me.

Yes, for a while… Until I realized: I still searching for acceptance and worry some more.

After constant trials and errors in self acceptance, gradually I understand that the only acceptance I need to care about is from my self.

Being a girl or a young woman especially in this digital era, we face many images everyday that build perceptions on how a girl should look.

We have been worried… We wasted our precious life in years of searching for acceptance, to be noticed, to be defined as beautiful, to feel beautiful.

When the truth is: we are beautiful… Each and every one of us, in our own ways. We just forgot to see.

“She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. She is beautiful.”  ~F. Scott Fitzgerald

 If I may wish…

I wish for us, every girl, every woman,

To see the beauty in the body we live in,

To admire the mesmerizing passion of our soul,

To love and empower each other,

To be happy and realize: we are beautiful, deep down to our soul.
