Hand-picked from my own, personal, library.

1. I’ll Give You the Sun, by Jandy Nelson

This book is a beautiful literary masterpiece. The story follows two characters, twins, Jude and Noah, as they each tell half of they’re important coming of age story. This book is full of art, tragedy and heart-wrenching love. This book is definitely at the top of my must-read list, and I promise you won’t regret reading this book.

2. Eleanor and Park, by Rainbow Rowell

I’m sure that you’ve heard of this beautiful book at some point, it is very popular and well loved by young adults everywhere. The book shows us how a lovely relationship blossoms between characters, Eleanor and Park, in a very unlikely place: the school bus. This is a heartwarming story about two outcasts find love and acceptance within each other, and begin to heal their wounds, despite the horrible world around them.

3. The Boy on Cinnamon Street, by Phoebe Stone

This book is more on the cheesy and childish side, but it never fails to make me cry, and is extremely near and dear to my heart. It’s about a young girl named Louise who is trying to remember/cope with the death of her mother, as well as dealing with a strange secret admirer and her own emotions for her best friend, Henderson. This is a very touching story about loss, healing, and the blossoming of delicate love from friendship.

4. Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell

If you enjoyed the Harry Potter series, and/or Fangirl, you will definitely love this book. This book is about a troubled world of magicians, and follows their possible savior: the young man, Simon Snow, along with his enemy, Baz, and a few of their peers. This book is filled with magic, twists, and action (with a bit of romance to spice things up). This book is definitely near the very top of my favorites list.

5. Where She Went, by Gayle Forman

The sequel to the famous, If I Stay, this book is an intoxicating, lyrical, masterpiece about healing and renewing lost love. Years after Mia’s accident, she an Adam meet again, after years of total silence on her part, and two hit rock albums on his. The only thing they have left to do to heal is let go, but its not that simple, and one night will change everything.
