I have struggled with weight my entire life and didn’t realize how important self-love was until I decided go through with bariatric surgery. Not only did I discover the importance of self love through this journey, I realized the important the life long journey that comes with it. I have a passion for yoga and meditation and I believe in the importance of mental health.
“After weight loss surgery you are still mentally the same person. It takes a long time to get to a place of understanding and acceptance. What I mean by that is for a long time you see yourself for who you were prior to weight loss surgery and not who you really are. It takes a lot of practice to look in a mirror and not see yourself as “far” Or “big”. You simply learn to accept and love yourself for who you are just as you are. You learn to accept food as is and not “bad” or “good” foods. You learn to care for your body by eating naturally what your body craves rather than binging on so called bad foods and later feeling guilty about it. This all comes from a place of self love and acceptance!” – Rachel Engelhardt
